My name is Steven Fuller and I have been working in computer sales, repair and consulting in the north state since 1985. I am a 1976 graduate of California State University, Chico with a degree in American Studies.

I began my computer experiences in 1980 with the acquisition of my first computer; a Commodore 64 (with a tape drive for data storage). I originally used this system while working as Maintenance Supervisor at Craig Hall Dormitories as a tool for collecting energy usage data, then began developing databases and spreadsheets for other information models necessary to my job.

My professional computer career began in 1985 when I went to work for a Chico software resale firm called START WITH SOFTWARE, as a sales and software consultant. We originally specialized in educational software for Commodore and Apple systems, before branching out into business and general software and hardware products for Commodore, Apple and MS-DOS systems. I was a Novell CNE and CNA, as well as an Artisoft 5 Star Consultant.

I had worked with other computer-based sales and consulting concerns before venturing out on my own in 1998.

I have extensive work experience with personal computer repair and maintenance (and system building), small business network design and implementation (I have held certifications for Novell, Artisoft and Microsoft networks), software applications (MS Office, WordPerfect, database and spreadsheet design, more...) and operating systems installation and repair (all versions of Windows).

For information on my screen name, I can refer you to http://lnstar.com/literature/beowulf/. When I first wanted a screen name my original choice of "grendel" was taken so I added the "old" preface. A college instructor of mine said that my writing style (at that time) reminded him of a character in John Gardner's GRENDEL, which is a hilarious retelling of the Beowulf legend from the monster's point of view. I am not sure if he was also alluding to my personality defects, but whatever... Gardner's book is well worth the reading!
